The Tall Tide Team
The Tall Tide team is made up of of captains that are more than just great fishermen– they are smart, thoughtful, patient, and fun to be around.
Leading this team is Captain Gates Roll. Gates grew up fishing and exploring the rivers, swamps, and marshes of the Lowcountry. A graduate of the College of Charleston, he has been professionally guiding in Charleston waters for many years. When not fishing, Gates is an accomplished naturalist interpreter and outdoor adventures guide. He won REI Adventure’s Guide of the Year Award in 2013, and he has lead outdoor expeditions throughout the Lowcountry. With Captain Gates you get more than just a fishing guide—you get someone who has a deep knowledge of the area’s natural and human history.
A fishing excursion may be the most intimate interaction you can have with the Lowcountry’s incredible natural landscapes. Whether you are novice or expert, Tall Tide Fishing will ensure you have a safe, fun, and successful fishing experience.

The Action Craft 24 Coastal Bay
The Action Craft 24 Coastal Bay is a fishing machine that doesn’t sacrifice comfort. Wide, stable, and equipped with all of the state of the art fishing technology, it also has cushioned seats for each passenger and a large t-top that affords some shade in the summer months. This vessel floats in just 13″ for our shallow water excursions but still has plenty of freeboard and wave-cutting hull for safe and comfortable nearshore ocean outings. We can carry up to six anglers on this vessel.
